Meet Matt Burdick
Matt Burdick holds certifications for Level 1 Sports Performance Coach and the Athlete Development Model through USA-Weightlifting.
Matt began his fitness journey by walking then running in 5K races. He sought a more comprehensive fitness program and found success in CrossFit. As a member of CrossFit West Allis, Matt developed strength, endurance, and new skills. He was drawn towards the challenge of learning barbell movements, especially the Olympic lifts. A USA-Weightlifting sanctioned barbell club was formed and the Stallis Strong Barbell Club eventually sent athletes to local competitions. Matt's love of the sport grew through both the individual challenge to improve and the bonding of the team through training and competition. Coach Matt received his coaching certification in April of 2018 to keep growing the sport and to help his team achieve their goals. He has both competed in and coached at USAW sanctioned meets. Matt joined FitPOWER in June of 2019 to return to strength training. He trains with Coach Rob and the small group on weeknights. Powerlifting allows Matt to enjoy cycling, volleyball, and snowboarding. Just don't ask him to do a triathlon. He continues to engage in the sport of weightlifting and encourages anyone of any skill-level or strength to explore the benefits of learning the Olympic lifts. |
